第二次世界大戦直後の1948年に、ハンス・クレメンスにより設立されました。
戦前は卸業や靴の製造業などを営んでいましたが、戦後はギフトやガラスなどの小売に切り替えました。
しかし、当時の顧客から、テディベアを求められる声が多く、
その期待に応えるべくテディベアの製造業をスタート。

当初は、古い軍用の毛布を素材にして作られていました。
